Social Inclusion

Social inclusion is a process that ensures those at risk of social exclusion gain the opportunities and resources they need to participate fully in economic, social and cultural life. It encompasses the identification and removal of barriers that disadvantaged populations experience in meeting their needs, accessing opportunities and resources and leveraging their rights. The concept of social inclusion embraces the many different forms of exclusion and discrimination that exist in society including gender-based discrimination, exclusion of people with disability and the disadvantage people experience resulting from poverty, remoteness and living in conflict affected areas.
